Mechanic, Deacon AKA and chook pen fixer upper and cow time

This is FInchy. Finchy came to fix our car.

This is me with FInchy, I am learning about cars, how they work.

We are looking at this car, the front, the engine needs petrol to work. Tyres need to get pumped up.

On Saturday, Mr VanderDolder came to help us to get the chicken pen fixed. I drilled the doors and we made a new door from the wood pile.

We are getting the door in properly.

Last Thursday we went to Busselton farm and we saw cows and baby calves.

We putted our hands into the calves mouths and they sucked on it, Disgusting.

This is the milking place and there is lots of cows milking.

A girl is telling the cows to move on the circle thing and putting the udders on the cows.

This is the fattest cow ever.

Alverstoke

We went to Alverstoke farm. It was fun. Mary was telling us about the shed.

This Is the sed In  alverstoke farm

same as first one :)

We are going to the school in Alverstoke farm.

This is the school. We are not allowed to touch stuff in the school. 

See the school bell? You ring it, that means its time to go to school!!

Here we are inside. Mary is telling us about ink. The boys have to stir and stir the ink. They have to write stuff on the paper with the ink.

We are sitting down on the benches. And Mary is telling us about a naughty boy, lying and the boy got 6 smacks and 6 six cuts. 

Im scared of the wooden cane.

We are walking, Clive is in the front of the teacher Mary, to another shed.

We saw the biggest wheel. Afterwards other children tried to lift up that heavy thing, the axle. Mary said "If you lift that up, you are allowed to take it home" so all of the childlen tried. Clive, me, Kya... It was too heavy to lift up.

The shed which had horse equipment. The heaviest thing was the saddle.

This is the house, where 12 people lived. It was really small. It had 2  bedrooms. They slept on double beds, and hammocks. It had  a fireplace.

term 2, week 1

We have been pretty slack over the last few weeks. Ryan is becoming more deligent with his work but its like pulling teeth with Lij. However this week, we knuckled down and tried to get some book work done.

Our weekly routine is basically this:
Sunday - Church with an hour socialization after each service and perhaps a visit or visitor over between services.
Monday - RDA in am
Tues - homeday with the hope of doing more book work in the am
Wed - bookwork in am and then will be sport at school in pm
Thur - home day
Friday - co op 10 -2
Saturday - often is chiropractor, so that is a drive to Rockingham, then a stop at spud shed on way home.

This week, we had a lovely Sunday although i wasnt the most patient, so Ry happily joined another single lady in church for the arvo service. So lovely to just sit with one!!!

Monday - no RDA yet as it was the public holiday for ANZAC day. Our shed got broken into with asbestos walls smashed so the morning was spent going to bunnings to get equipment to sort that out. In the arvo we met Nel and Ann and families at Buffalo beach and the boys happily went 4 WD up sand dunes while I safely stayed below. We then had a lovely dinner at Wayne and Frans along with Dean and Nat and families. So loving our life and people down here.

Tuesday was knuckle down day. Lij still drags his feet while Ry is ready to start with his Mental maths (column of 10 mixed math questions) before breakfast. I have now backed off Lij to book A while Ryan is doing book B. And I see such progress in Ry if he sits and concentrates. He is starting to understand subtraction.
They also do a page in signpost maths, which is a fun way to get math happening. The combination of both is books is good.
Ryan is also doing a comprehension made easy book and an excel book. Both books require some reading and intepreting. The first uses different formats like a  letter or timetable, while the excel book is mainly and interesting 3 paragraph story about something interesting with 5 questions.
Lij is doing a sight word book which requires him to write out he word about 4-6 times, then make a few rhyming words and then a little game with the new word. He is also doing another book which has patterns in words, and a bit of writing.

On top of this, I have finally got busier with read alouds. We are reading the "story of us: Australia" 4 magazines that have little 2-4 page historical accounts of life and events in Australia over last 100+ years. Right now we are reading the war/ANZAC stories, one every day. We are also reading a chapter from the book "Missionaries with the Millars" about missionaries all over the world. We have worked with  a book about Ulura with an Aboriginal focus. We are reading a the first book of "life of Fred". And a poetry book. I think I need to try throw a sciencey book in there too.

Wednesday was similar to Tuesday.

Thursday we got some work done like Tuesday but didnt get as much reading done, we had to have lunch on time as boys had sport a 1345. Which kind of took care of the afternoon.

And Friday - Clive came while we were having breaky, so all the boys attempted to do their book work, which worked for the eldest 2 but Lij was stuck. So he ended up in tears all goopy, which I am not sure what to do each time. And then they had a great time at co -op. They did French - Bonjour and wii, and numbers 1-5. Did a small art activity but spent most of their time building a 'cubby' out of sticks and whatever else they could find and annoying the girls whenever they could.

So here is my first week, of blogging. Hope I can keep it up.

The SPU or the SEP (or otherwise known as the RSPCA)

Today we completed term 3 of our homeschool group with a trip to the RSPCA.
Here is Ryan's summary. In a very random order. BTW he couldnt figure out the RSPCA initials so that is why the title is as above.


Caring is feeding animals.
Loving is hugging Animals.
Dont give them chocolate.
Put the chocolate on the roof. (The leader asked the kids where to put chocolate so dogs cant get it, and one suggestion was on the roof. :)
Rescue animals if treated badly.
Dogs
Horses,
goats
cows
rabbits
guinea pigs
kittens
rooster
chicken

Animals needs water, food, dog biscuits, cat food, fish food, bird seed.
Shelter is a bed, chairs, dog kennel, box.
Walking the dog is for exercise.
Tablets kill fleas and helps animals stay safe and strong.
